Description and Mission

The School Site Council (SSC) was developed to be the vehicle by which the school community would come together to chart the school's path to improvement. California Education Code (ED 52852 and 52853) requires the School Site Council to develop, implement, and update the School Improvement Plan and its accompanying budget, a document presented to and ratified by the Board of Education outlining the principle educational goals and objectives of Marin Elementary School.

The School Improvement Plan addresses:
  • Curriculum, instructional strategies and materials responsive to the individual needs and learning styles of each pupil;
  • Instructional and extra-curricular services to meet the needs of ELD, exceptional needs, educationally disadvantaged, and gifted and talented students;
  • Staff development program for school personnel related to school goals;
  • Ongoing evaluation of the educational program;
  • Other activities and objectives as established by the SSC.
