Albany USD Facilities Master Plan Update & Community Input Opportunities

We are continuing our work to develop a long-term Facilities Master Plan that aligns our school spaces with our vision for each and every student. This work is one important piece of a larger puzzle to modernize our buildings, create the best possible learning environments, and ensure our spaces support teaching and learning now and into the future.

The Facilities Master Plan also helps us better understand how to prioritize and budget for both large-scale capital projects and ongoing needs. As we shared at the April 14 Board meeting, our Deferred Maintenance Plan is a critical part of this puzzle. It ensures we are taking care of our existing facilities while also planning for future improvements.

While the voter-approved facilities bond provides important funding to begin this work, it is only one part of how we support our schools. Facilities improvements are funded through a combination of sources, including bond funds, state funding opportunities, and ongoing district resources for maintenance and repair. The Facilities Master Plan helps us prioritize across these funding sources so we can be thoughtful, strategic, and responsible in how we invest over time.

Our next step is a Board Study Session on Tuesday, May 26, where we will share progress, emerging priorities, and potential pathways forward.

In the meantime, we invite you to review the ideas and share your feedback here:

Vacancies on Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee
As we continue advancing our Facilities Master Plan, we are also seeking community members to serve on our Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee. This committee plays an important role in ensuring transparency and accountability in how bond funds are used.

Members help keep the public informed about how bond funds are spent, ensure taxpayer dollars support high-quality school facilities,  and maintain community confidence in the District’s stewardship.

The committee meets quarterly, offering a meaningful way to stay engaged without a large time commitment. Members serve a two-year term and are expected to attend meetings in person.

This is a valuable opportunity to contribute your perspective, support responsible stewardship of public funds, and help ensure that the priorities identified through the Facilities Master Plan are carried out with integrity and transparency.
