THANKSGIVING HOLIDAYS: There will be no school November 27th– 29th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. The Staff and I wish you and your family a happy, peaceful and safe holiday weekend. When school resumes on Monday, December 2nd, we return to our regular schedule.

NOVEMBER BEHAVIOR FOCUS: This month, we are reminding students of the importance of walking in the hallway and talking quietly. Walking in the hallway is part of being safe at school. Talking quietly is part of being respectful at school, as classes are on varied schedules and loud hallways interrupt teaching and
learning. Parents, please help us in our efforts by reminding kids to walk and by not having conversations next to classrooms when you are dropping off or picking up students. Thank you!

MONDAY, November 11th is Veterans Day. School will be closed.
FALL PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES, NOVEMBER 12th-26th: Fall Conferences start on Tuesday (day after Veterans Day). These will be early release days (Wednesday schedule) so plan now for the schedule change:8:30-1:45 for1st -3 rd and 8:30-1:40 for 4th and 5th. No schedule change for Kindergarten. Please inform your childcare. Thanks!

***DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS*** Please remember to turn your clocks back one hour on Sunday morning, November 3rd. We hope to see your child on time on Monday!

AUSD APPAREL: Introducing the newly designed Albany Unified School District Apparel! Apparel is back, and this year we will be highlighting a new design showcasing all of the schools in our district. Choose from two designs in a variety of styles. The store will be open from October 25th through November 22nd and orders will be delivered to your school by your apparel representative. Sales will go towards supporting your school’s PTA, and there will only be two additional opportunities to purchase your school gear later this year. EDUCATION FUNDING TEACH-IN: Monday, October 28th, 7:00 – 8:30 pm, Albany High School Little Theater. How did California drop into the bottom 10 states in several measures of public education? Many would say that it's the funding... Come to a fun, interactive, up-out-of-your-chairs Teach-In by teacher Miriam Walden and some local leaders. This exciting event will mix students, teachers and community members of all ages, educate and urge them to take action! Everyone is welcome!

STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY: Monday, October 14th, is staff development day. There will be no school for students. SCHOOL IS CLOSED!

PICTURE DAYS – THURSDAY & FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10TH & 11TH: “SMILE”-
Nathan Phillips’ Photography will be here to take pictures of every student, for school records on Thursday, October 10th & Friday, October 11th. If your child is absent on picture day, the photographer will be back on Friday, October 18th, for Absent Photo Day. You will be able to order portraits from Nathan Phillips’ Photography directly online, not through the school office.
