Dear Marin Families and Community,
As our school year draws to a close, I want to thank all of you for a great year! Your support and active participation in your child's education is a vital link to their success, and home school partnerships enable us to work together to support our students.
I want to wish all of our fifth-grade families a fond farewell as your child begins their middle school journey. To families who are not returning, we wish you all the best as well. I hope everyone has a restorative summer, and I look forward to another year of learning and growing at Marin this fall!

HOT DOG PICNIC & CRAZY HAT DAY: Wednesday, June 12th, please join us for our spring Hot Dog Picnic & Crazy Hat Day. Parents and siblings are invited to join us for the hot dog (All Natural Chicken or Veggie) lunch. We must encourage, that if parents and families would like a hot dog lunch, to pay for it in advance. Beginning on Monday, June 3rd, payment by cash or check can be made only in the office. Please pay $4.00 (cash or check payable to AUSD) for your student with a food service envelope and separately, please pay $4.75 (cash or check payable to AUSD) for yourself and/or siblings. Please make sure your child has money in their lunch account. If your child is free, reduced, or already has lunch money in their account, no payment is needed. Lunch will be served at the following times:
Kindergarten at 11:30 1st, 2nd & 3rd at 11:45 4th & 5th at 12:00 noon I hope you can join us for a day of Marin fun! Don’t forget to wear your crazy hat!

OPEN HOUSE AND SCIENCE INVESTIGATION: Next week on Thursday, May 23rd, we will hold our annual Open House from 7 to 8 pm. Our Science Investigations Fair will be held in the multipurpose room from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
Ms. Wong, our Science Specialist, is working with our 4th and 5th graders to prepare for this exciting evening. Participation is optional for K-3rd grade students. K-3rd Science Fair Packets are available in the office. During science fair and classroom visits, please ensure that your students are well supervised and they follow all general school rules. This event will end promptly at 8:00 pm for classroom
visits and 8:30 pm for science fair. I hope to see you at this wonderful event!

YOUR CHILD’S ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT: Regular attendance is vital to your child’s success in school, and to the fiscal health of the district. Thank you for helping to ensure that your child attends school every day, unless they are ill. If at all possible, we ask that you schedule medical appointments after school, and that you plan family vacations for days when school is out. In the event that your child is going to be absent, please call our attendance line at 558-4787 before 9:30 am.

Per Board Policy, parents/guardians of students who are Albany residents, are required to verify their Albany address each school year (AR 5111.1). This year, address verification is from April 1st, 2019 – June 29th, 2019. Your time is valuable and we encourage you to complete the address verification via email, or through our new address verification website. The piloted website is also mobile phone friendly. Walk-ins to the district's Enrollment Center, located at 1200 Solano Ave, are also welcome. SITE COUNCIL NEEDS YOU! Do you know what the Marin School Site Council does? Site Council finalizes and votes on the Single Plan for Marin. This document sets the course for the coming school year and governs on-site educational interventions. Our School Site Council is a group of staff and parents who meet
monthly, to give input on programs at Marin. Serving on Site Council is a great way to become involved in our school. We need three parent members for this coming year to serve a two-year term, beginning in August 2019. Nominations are now open. The nomination box is in the office.
